Speaking foreign languages increases salaries by 22%

Managers, coordinators and supervisors who speak more than one language in Brazil, English and Spanish, receive salaries between 19% and 22% above the market pay.

Out of 10 managers, 5 did not speak English. And seven in 10 do not speak Spanish, according to a survey of Catho Online.

Among the professionals who occupy supervisory, management and coordination, 64% do not speak English, and 84% Spanish.

The average salary of a manager who speaks Portuguese is $ 7,500. The compensation comes to $ 9,000 if they speak English and Spanish.

"The professionals invest more in academic and professional experience than in languages. But after it became evident the difference it makes in salary, the investment in foreign languages is expected to grow," says Lucio Tezzotto, Catho Online. (CR)
